Jessica Albin Testimony – What SPARC Hope Has Done for Us.
SPARC Hope is currently in our End of Year Giving Campaign. Our goal this year is to raise $50,000. We thought we would share a client testimony this week, so you can see what your donations provide.
I am a 38-year-old single mother of two. I have a 14-year-old daughter Hannah, who just started high school. I have a 3-year-old son Hank. I work for Goodwill Industries of Kentucky part-time. In June of 2022, I made a life-changing decision to go to college. My Career Coach Sam came across Sparc Hope and we sat down at work and applied for this program. At the time we knew nothing about what Sparc Hope was or offered. All we knew was I fit all the criteria to enter the program. I was single, working, and starting school full-time. I went to my first initial appointment with Mrs. Laura Wingfield. She sat down with me and together, we made a budget plan as well as areas in my life where Sparc Hope could be of service to me. I remember saying “Ms. Laura, I still do not know what your actual program does or offers?” Her exact words were “Jessica, you are going to love this program, just wait and see.”
I started school and moved into The Scholar House program in August 2022 and joined the Life Plan program with Sparc Hope. Sparc Hope was able to find donors to fully furnish my entire 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. The truck to pick up the furniture and bring it to my home, towels wash cloths, shower curtains, garbage cans, everything needed and furnished. Sparc Hope funds my gas every month by loading a gas card with $200.00 on the first of each month. I am able to use a fully stocked pantry unlimited times each month. The pantry has everything from freezer items to dry goods, to personal hygiene and more. Sparc Hope sponsors my children and me on every holiday. For Thanksgiving, we receive a full meal with either turkey or ham. On Halloween, we receive costumes of choice. My children are sponsored for back to school. We can go to Shoe Carnival and pick out the shoes of choice along with backpacks full of supplies and clothing to start school. Christmas, we filled out our Christmas list and received every item on the list. Sparc Hope even helped me to be able to decorate for Christmas. I received a new Christmas tree and new decorations of choice for Christmas. In other words, if I need something and ask for it, and Sparc can provide it, their team is ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP.
I am truly grateful for this program! I cannot thank them enough. Sparc not only is here for my physical needs, but these ladies truly care about my children and me. We are a family. This program takes the burden of everyday stressors, so I can focus on School and not have to work a full-time job to make ends meet and put assignments on the back burner. I am thankful I do not have to do this alone. I have a support team empowering me to be all I can be.
