OVERVIEW of Position

  • Support Communications & Development Lead to develop corp & business relationships to increase fundraising or other support opportunities.
  • Lead Thank You team to assure timely follow ups & thank yous.
  • Assist Communications & Development Lead in building campaigns for identifying/recruiting additional corp & business supporters.
  • Actively engage with business community organizations to meet potential new partners.
  • Directly interact with business leaders at differing levels to seek funding or other support.
  • Understand & follow established guidelines in all interactions with partners; working with volunteers, solicitation guidelines, etc.
  • Fully document all actions into approved tracking systems.

Position Responsibilities

  • Position will directly support Communications & Development Lead.
    • Assist in developing a consistent approach to the business community for support.
    • Develop & maintain spreadsheet of potential organizations &/or business partners who may become supporters. Track all interactions.
    • Develop list of volunteers available to support activities for identifying, meeting, or recruiting new corp or business supporters.
    • Meet with potential new partners to solicit monetary or material donations.
  • Become familiar with & maintain proficiency in current tracking programs to fully document all conversations & actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality in interactions, where appropriate, escalating identified concerns or issues quickly to Communications & Development Lead.
  • Other duties as assigned by team Leader.

Position Skills

  • Comfortable talking & working directly with corp & business communities. Not hesitant to ask for monetary or material donations.
  • Comfortable leading a small team to assure we stay in contact with & show appropriate recognition to partners. Send thank you cards soon after any donation or support, stay in touch to nurture relationships.
  • Strong time management, communication & people skills, working with the business community at all levels.
  • Ability to meet goals & milestones; comfortable managing multiple tasks with efficiency & accountability.
  • Computer systems proficiency, ability to learn & support existing systems for tracking all resources, conversations & actions.
  • Comfortable being persistent in interactions, without being “pushy”.
  • Comfortable assessing situations that may need to be escalated; follow the defined escalation process.
  • Flexibility in assigned tasks as each interaction may have differing time commitment or activities requirements.

Relationships Interactions

  • Works directly with corporate and business leaders, volunteers, Communications & Development Lead, & other team members.

Time Commitment

  • 6 – 10 hours per week, much of the work may be completed offsite. Schedule can be flexible but most activities will be during normal business hours to accommodate potential business partners.
