OVERVIEW of Position

  • Oversees all aspects of volunteer recruitment, development, recognition & retention to support the Program.
  • Works with Exec Director & other Leads to assess potential volunteers, including vetting appropriate levels of individual involvement, skills matching, orientation, time commitment, & finding meaningful ways to involve interested individuals & groups who can contribute to the Program’s success.
  • Develops & maintains relationships with organizations who may be developed into volunteer pools to fill position needs.
  • Understands & follows all processes for escalation of any identified concerns.
  • Fully documents all interactions and conversations into approved tracking systems.

Position Responsibilities

  • Position requires direct interaction with current & future volunteers; understanding interests & skill sets to match them with meaningful work or tasks within existing organization & Program’s structure.
  • Become familiar with & maintain proficiency in current tracking programs to fully document all conversations & interactions.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all interactions, escalating identified concerns or issues quickly to Programs Lead.
  • In coordination with Executive Director & other Leads, look for any improvements in processes or opportunities to increase volunteer development & retention.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Executive Director.

Position Skills

  • Comfortable talking & working directly with active volunteers.
  • Comfortable interacting with organizations or individuals who may become resources to provide volunteer work to support identified positions or tasks.
  • Computer systems proficiency, ability to learn & support existing system for tracking all conversations & interactions.
  • Ability to develop or expand relationships with organizations who may become talent pools for volunteers.
  • Comfortable assessing situations that may need to be escalated.
  • Strong communication & people skills, working with the entire team to support volunteers.
  • Efficiency with empathy, ability to engage with volunteers compassionately but also efficiently.
  • Flexibility in assigned volunteer support tasks as opportunities fluctuate.
  • Willingness to cover other tasks in support of Executive Director or other Leads to meet needs.

Relationships Interactions

  • Works directly with volunteers, outside organizations, 3 rd party ministries, & other team members.

Time Commitment

  • 4 – 6 hours per week; as opportunities for volunteer interaction or community canvasing becomes available.
