OVERVIEW of Position

  • Support Communications & Marketing Lead to develop & deliver high quality media relationships & campaigns for communications &/or marketing messaging.
  • Assist Communications & Marketing Lead in developing media contacts, relationships & campaigns.
  • Stay informed on existing & upcoming opportunities to get positive media exposure for SPARC-Hope programs or marketing efforts.
  • Understand & follow established guidelines in all interactions with venders; working with volunteers, solicitation guidelines, etc.
  • Fully document all actions into approved tracking systems.

Position Responsibilities

  • Position will directly support Communications & Marketing Lead.
    • Assist in development of media contacts, opportunities to use/involve media.
    • Develop & maintain spreadsheet of media contacts, potential involvement opportunities, & any other resources related to positively communicating the SPARC-Hope story or activities.
    • Assist Lead in relationship development, managing schedules & timelines.
  • Become familiar with & maintain proficiency in current tracking programs to fully document all conversations & actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality in interactions, where appropriate, escalating identified concerns or issues quickly to Communications & Marketing Lead.
  • Other duties as assigned by Communications & Marketing Lead

Position Skills

  • Comfortable talking & working directly with media & business communities.
  • Strong time management, communication & people skills, working with the entire team to support development of media relationships.
  • Ability to set goals & timelines.
  • Computer systems proficiency, ability to learn & support existing systems for tracking all resources, conversations & actions.
  • Proficiency in digital, on-line & print systems to support a consistent media presence.
  • Comfortable assessing situations that may need to be escalated; follow the defined escalation process.
  • Flexibility in assigned tasks as each campaign may have differing time commitment or activities required.

Relationships Interactions

  • Works directly with media & business partners, Communications & Marketing Lead, & other team members.

Time Commitment

  • 4 – 6 hours per week, some work may be completed offsite. Schedule may be flexible to accommodate individual’s schedule.
